About

It is my pleasure to welcome you to my studio. I look forward to a great year of music making. My mission is to provide my students with the direction and encouragement to develop their potential. I believe that learning piano can be a fun and painless process when both teacher and students do their part. As it has been well documented, benefits extend beyond the piano studio.

The following information provides general background for my studio’s functioning and expectations:

  • The studio is equipped with a Petrof III grand piano from the conservatory series, designed for concert settings, music schools and recording studios. A sitting/waiting area is provided for parents and others accompanying students.
  • The studio holds two recitals per year – typically in May and December; all students are encouraged to participate, provided they are fully prepared for performance. New students are welcome to participate after they have completed 4 months of instruction.
  • The studio is open through the summer session and students are encouraged to continue. Months of inactivity can lead to loss in motivation and ground covered. Most importantly, summer is a prime time for learning and optimizes student progress.
  • Students taking 6 or more lessons over the summer months will continue to be considered active and will be reserved a slot for the following year. Students who don’t meet this expectation will be considered inactive and will be asked to wait to schedule on remaining availability.
  • Scheduling for the school year takes place starting in early August – or earlier for active students. Time slots are reserved for the rest of the school year for students in good standing.
  • Parents and students should strive to create a routine of daily practice at home and reasonable progress is expected.
  • Please be on time for the lesson appointments. Cancellations should also be minimized as they detract from the student’s learning, motivation and the studio functioning. A no-show $20 charge will be assessed on missed lessons for which proper notice is not provided 24 hrs in advance.
  • Tuition payments are acceptable both on a monthly basis or weekly by the lesson. If paying by the lesson, cash payments are required. For monthly payments, checks and electronic payments are accepted and required in advance, on the first lesson of the month.
  • For beginner students, the first book will be provided by the studio and will be ready for their use on the first session. Parents will be responsible to order/purchase other required books.
  • As a courtesy to the neighbors, please do your best effort to park in front of the house – but not in the driveway.  Be kind to the next student and allow space for their car as well.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Best wishes for this year!
